Mike York Joins Meijer AAA Coaching Staff

Mike grew up playing youth hockey in the Detroit area. In 1994 at the age of 16 he moved to Toronto to play junior hockey for the Thornhill Islanders of the Metro Junior Hockey League. From 1995-1999 he played college hockey at Michigan State University where he was inducted into the MSU hall of fame in 2015. During that time  he played on three USA World Junior teams winning a silver medal in 1997.
After College, Mike played ten years in the NHL for the New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers, Phoenix Coyotes and the Columbus Blue Jackets. In 2002 he was voted to play in the NHL All-Star game and was a member of the USA Olympic team that won a silver medal in Salt Lake City. After his NHL career Mike played two seasons in the AHL for Rochester and Syracuse. Mike recently retired from pro hockey after playing six years in Europe one year in Finland and five years in Germany.
Mike lives in East Lansing with his wife, Aimee and daughter, Ivy.
