The Meijer AAA hockey program is pleased to announce that 18U forward Zac Currie has been called up to the North American Hockey League (NAHL) to play for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights.

Earlier this month, Currie signed an NAHL tender with the Knights and is expected to make his NAHL debut this weekend.

Currie, 18, is from Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 32 games this year, the 5’10/170 lbs. right-handed shot has scored 22 goals and recorded 21 assists for Meijer AAA 18U team in the NAPHL.  In NAPHL play, he leads the squad with 19 points in 13 total games, which ranks 2nd in NAPHL 18U scoring.

Currie's best event so far came at the latest NAPHL event in Troy, Michigan, where the Knights were in attendance and scouting, as he recorded 10 points in 5 games played.

“Zak is an electric, skilled forward capable of putting up points in bunches as made evident by his stats this year,” said Knights assistant GM, Justin Schreiber. “He has had a great start to the year and we are excited to add a player of his caliber to the organization.”

“I picked the Knights because I like the staff and I think the organization is a good fit for my style of play,” said Currie. “I play a fast and skilled game. As far as the rest of this season, I just want to continue to improve areas of my game and continue to contribute to my team’s success.”
